In 1997, Klatt received his B.S.
degree in Meteorology from the University of Oklahoma. Shortly thereafter, he
started his current position at the Environmental Verification and Analysis Center
(EVAC) in Norman.
Michael Klatt is involved in several projects at EVAC, including
studies of cloud seeding (weather modification), remote sensing, and numerical
model verifications. He hopes to get involved with aviation weather (e.g., turbulence,
icing, wind shear, etc.) at some point.
"As my job title suggests, I do
research for various projects. Tasks include collecting data, writing computer
programs to read and analyze that data, interpreting the results, and writing
up the results. The main project that I have worked on since coming to EVAC
is evaluating the Oklahoma Weather Modification Demonstration Program. I'm
also active in web page development for EVAC. In addition to putting together
and maintaining the OKWMDP web site, I am currently designing a new web site
for EVAC."
Michael is a pilot and tries to fly as often as he can. He is
very interested in sailing and now really wants to learn how to sail. As far
as exercise goes, he enjoys rollerblading. Although Klatt gets as excited about
severe weather as many other meteorologists, he not as apt to storm chasing
as others. He is happy to wait for the storms to come to him. |
