I am really interested in weather and have been fascinated with El Niño and thought La Niña would be fun to try. I chose this topic for my project by reading an article in the Reader's Digest.

To complete my project I calculated the number of tornadoes in a La Niña year in the 77 counties of Oklahoma and compared it to the amount of tornadoes in the non-La Niña years of 1961 - 1993. I concluded that in a non-La Niña year there are more tornadoes in the 77 counties of Oklahoma than in a La Niña year. With the exception of Woods County, there was 14 La Niña tornadoes compared to 4 non-La Niña tornadoes.

I learned a lot about the differences between El Niño and La Niña. I would like to do another project because I've done Mesonet projects for 6 years and I love it. I would like to thank Mrs. Lori Painter for all of her help.
